“Dorothy? Dorothy, I think we need to talk…” Quatre tried to get the pacing girl to stop, but Dorothy seemed to ignore him. They were back in her private chambers; he was sitting on her bed while she paced back and forth, chewing on her fingernails. Every now and then he thought he caught her muttering something like, “Oh my god… Get a grip, Dorothy… Angel boy of all people…”
“Dorothy? Dorothy?” Quatre was starting to get worried as the blond girl stopped pacing and just stood there, gnawing her fingernails off. “Dorothy, are you ok? Dorothy, speak to me!” She didn’t even glance at him. He stood up and walked over toward her, “Dorothy?” She turned so her back was to him and her shoulders started shaking. “Dorothy! Don’t cry!”
She turned and he saw tears running down her face, but he soon realized not because she was sad. Giggles escaped from her mouth and he watched in shock as she fell, rolling on the ground laughing. Quatre didn’t really know what happened, for a second he just snapped. He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, “DOROTHY SNAP OUT OF IT!”
She stopped and stared up at him, “No need to yell, Quatre… My mind may have gone, but not my hearing.”
He blushed and let her go, “I’m sorry, Miss Dorothy… I don’t know what came over me.”
She grinned and stood up, “Stress. It’s only natural that you snap, you’re not perfect.” Her grin turned into a bitter smile, “No one is perfect, Mr. Winner. Now… That we’ve both suffered our separate breakdowns, let us move to more important details…” Quatre watched as she moved over to the wall and yanked the map hanging there down and smoothed it across her desk. “If I’m correct then we are somewhere around here.” She pointed and he walked over and looked over shoulder. For a second Dorothy paused as his breath fell against her hair, then she shook herself and focused once again.
“Meaning we’re drifting pretty much nowhere…” He sighed and she shook her head. Quatre resisted the urge to stroke her hair; ever since that kiss he’d been wondering… He shook himself, ‘focus, Quatre! Focus!’
“Not really… See we are probably only a day’s sailing from land. This forest is huge and seems to travel all the way down the coastline.” She trailed her finger along an imaginary path, “If we could only get the ship to move in that direction…”
“Ravyn Woods.” Quatre read off the map and a thoughtful look crossed his face. She turned to look at him and started to smile. ‘He looks so cute, what with his nose wrinkling up in that adorable way and his eyes lighting up as the answer comes to him! Oh my god!’ Dorothy paled, ‘what am I thinking?!’ “I knew that name sounded familiar! The nobles at the castle were talking about how the two knights were being held up in Ravyn Woods…”
“Uh, yeah. Real helpful.” She rolled her eyes and turned back to the map. Quatre hid his hurt and instead focused on something else.
“Have you sensed anybody?”
“Huh?” She turned confusion clear on her face and annoyance at being confused. “What are you talking about?”
He was abashed, “I didn’t tell you? I’m sorry…” She growled, “Stop saying you’re sorry all the time!”
“I’m so--- Uh… Any ways… Sensing, if you focus you can kinda sense the others, you know the people that don’t belong here. Like Heero, Duo, and Relena.”
She raised an eyebrow, “Right. Whatever.” Dorothy turned back to the map.
“It’s the truth! Just try it.”
“Fine.” She closed her eyes, one finger casually on Ravyn Woods, and focused. She gasped and jerked back away from the map, slamming into him. Dorothy’s eyes were wide and disbelieving as she stared at the map, not even aware of Quatre’s arms closing around her protectively for a second, then disappearing as he let her go, a flustered look on his face.
“What is it? Are you alright?”
She jerked away from him and stared down at the map, chewing on her lower lip slightly. “I felt them…” A grin broke over her face and she jabbed a finger at Ravyn Woods, “They’re there.”
He stepped up beside her and stared, then cautiously put a finger on Ravyn Woods and closed his eyes, then opened them with a smile on his face. “You’re right! I can feel them too! Strange… But helpful!”
“They’re only a day or two away!” She turned and the two started dancing around the room, both grinning like idiots. “THEY’RE ONLY A DAY OR TWO AWAY!”
Quatre twirled her around, then caught her in his arms. The two slowly stopped laughing and grinning; they just stared at each other. “Dorothy.” He breathed her name out and lowered his face towards hers.
“We really should figure out a plan.” Dorothy pulled out of his arms and walked back toward the map, hiding her blushing face. Quatre stood there for a minute, then walked up to her…
“Heero? Heero?” Relena walked up to the now silent boy who was walking ahead of the group. They were just wandering through the forest, following Hilde’s advice on where to turn or not. Relena walked beside him and he glanced at her coldly from the corner of his eye.
“What?”
“Are you ok? I mean, after what happened a few seconds ago…” The look on his face made her hesitate.
“Nothing happened a few seconds ago.” He told her harshly and Relena decided to drop it, for now. She looked around at the green forest around them and smiled, “It’s pretty, isn’t it?” He grunted an answer and she frowned, “Fine, then.” Relena stomped off and he watched after her for a second before returning his gaze to straight ahead of him.
“Idiot.” A voice hissed in his ear and he turned and saw Ruby fluttering nearby. She was glaring at him angrily. “You are such an idiot sometimes, Heero!” He just stared at her and she threw up her tiny hands, “Ugh!” She flew off and he sighed in relief. He wouldn’t admit it to anyone, of course, but Ruby was one of those people that actually could get on his nerves… Duo was another one.
“I wonder what we’ll do once we find Quatre and Dorothy…” Hilde spoke up next to Relena and Ruby landed on her shoulder.
“Then we find that wizard fellow and go home!” The fairy piped up and she sat down, Indian style, on Hilde’s shoulder. “I’m tired of this! I want to be me!”
“You are you.” Hilde grinned as Ruby pouted, “I meant me without wings and without a height prob.”
“Yeah, but ya gotta admit these magic powers are cool!” Hilde emphasized her point by allowing a blue light to shine around her briefly, then disappear.
Ruby nodded, “They’re cool… Sometimes…”
“Oh cheer up Rube! Your magic hasn’t brought any serious bad luck!”
Relena sighed heavily beside them and the two girls exchanged a look then turned on their friend. Ruby fluttered up and stood on Relena’s shoulder. “Hey Rel! Uh… What’s up?”
She glared at nothing in front of her, “I wish…” She sighed and her eyes dropped to the ground, “Nevermind… Wishes are for little children who don’t understand the real world… ****. I’m a politician, yet I can’t stop dreaming this worthless fantasy! I should know better, shouldn’t I?” She looked up at her friends and Hilde and Ruby both softened under Relena’s tear-filled gaze.
“Oh Relena!” Hilde opened her arms and hugged Relena while the girl cried. Ruby fluttered around the two, making helpful little comments here and there. Relena suddenly pulled away from Hilde and gasped, “Look!” The two turned and stared in awe.
“Wow…” Hilde whispered and Ruby nodded. In front of them was a beautiful crystal clear lake with a waterfall pouring into it. Hilde suddenly giggled and grabbed Relena’s hand, “Come on!” She pulled the other girl along and they waded into the calm water. Ruby fluttered down and sat on a lily pad. The rest of the group who also took this chance to break soon joined them. Duo jumped into the water, splashing everyone and grinned mischievously once he surfaced.
“MAXWELL!” Wufei shook a fist at him as he shook water off himself. Foxy giggled, “Oh loosen up, Wuffie!” The fox girl pushed him into the water and Ruby yelled, “WOO-HOO! GO FURRY RAT!”
Jewel sat near the pond’s edge, soaking her feet. Trowa sat beside her and watched the others, with a small smile on his face. He blinked in surprise as water hit him. Jewel grinned and flicked some more at him. “Why so serious, acrobat?”
“You’re one to talk, songbird.”
She laughed and looked out at the water, “I suppose it’s our natures to be serious… But we can take a small break, can’t we?” Jewel turned to look back at him and was rewarded by a huge grin on his face.
“I think I can fit that into my schedule.” He pushed her and she latched onto him. The others turned as a large splash was heard and saw the two surface up.
“So, everyone’s in… Except Mr. Heero Yuo! HEERO!” Duo waved at him, but the other boy only went ‘Hn’ and shook his head. He started to walk away from them when suddenly he heard a scream and, “AH! HEERO! I’M DROWNING!” He turned and watched as Relena went down; the others were too far! He raced forward and leapt into the water, swimming toward her. He pulled her up and stared at her in worry, “Relena? Relena!”
She opened her eyes, “Why hello Heero, glad to see you’ve joined us!” The others started to laugh and the realization dawned on him.
“You tricked me.” He told her, surprised and angry.
She grinned and her next move surprised him even more. Relena threw her arms around his neck, “Yep! I tricked the Perfect Soldier, bet I could surprise him too.” She whispered huskily, leaning close so their lips were almost touching. “What do you think, Heero?”
Foxy climbed out of the water and watched with a raised eyebrow, ‘Strange… That’s not how she usually acts…’ The fox girl turned and watched the others in the water. Most were acting pretty normal, except… Duo was cornering Hilde with a strange look in his eyes and Jewel and Trowa were… “Oh my!” The fox girl grinned as the two kissed underneath the waterfall. Wufei and Ruby were acting like normal… “Hmmm…”
“Duo!” Hilde giggled as he leaned closer, blowing in her ear.
Foxy leaned forward and cupped some of the water and sniffed it. It smelled like roses and… “Magic. A magic love spring… Uh, oh…” She straightened up and cupped her hands around her mouth, “EVERYBODY OUT OF THE WATER! ALL NON-MAGICAL PEOPLE OUT OF THE WATER!” She winced slightly, ‘I’m becoming such a prude…’
Ruby and Wufei stared at her, “Huh?”
“This is a magical spring, a love spring… It only effects non-magical people, so me and ya’ll are okay… However, they… are not.” She pointed and Ruby and Wufei turned and gaped.
“THE DISHONOR!”
“Hey, Rel… That’s gonna leave a mark…” Relena and Heero ignored Ruby and the fairy flew out of the water. Hilde and Wufei and Duo soon joined her and Foxy. Duo was really only following Hilde, you could almost see the hearts in his eyes. He swept her off her feet (literally) and leaned in close. “Hilde, my love, let me show you true pleasure!”
She paled and scrambled out of his arms, “Uh… As much as I would love too… Oh god… Help! Somebody!”
“We’re kinda busy!” Ruby yelled as her and Wufei tried to restrain Heero who was using all his strength to try and return to Relena. Foxy yelped as Relena pulled one of her tails.
“WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER TWO?!” Foxy yelled and Wufei grunted as Heero punched him in the stomach, “We can only handle so much!”
“I WILL KILL YOU!”
“LET GO OF ME! HEERO!”
“OW! STOP THAT! OW! THOSE ARE MY EARS!”
Hilde suddenly ran by, screaming, “HELP!” Duo chased after her.
“FOXY! EXPLAIN EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE STUPID SPRINGS!” Ruby yelled, focusing all her magic to hold Heero in place. Wufei panted and slowly started making his way to Trowa and Jewel who were still kissing.
“THEY AREN’T REAL MAGIC IN A SENSE!” Foxy yelled back, holding Relena down. “THEY ONLY ENHANCE A PERSON’S FEELINGS!”
“ENHANCE?!” Hilde ran up, gasping for air. Duo was yelling and Foxy saw that ropes made out of water tied him up. “What do you mean by enhance?”
“I mean, the spell takes the feelings a person has for someone else… And gives them a boost… Kinda meaning that these springs act like instant drunkenness… What they’re doing or saying is true! The water just gives them… I guess you could say, it gives them the courage to act on their emotions… They’re very rare and really kinda useless…”
“Unless of course you’re a suicidal pilot who pushes his emotions away…” Ruby glanced down at Heero and Hilde nodded.
“Or a girl that’s always trying to be more politician than average teenager… But…” Hilde glanced up at Duo and suddenly beamed, “Duo loves me?!” She ran over to the hog-tied boy and hugged him; “I LOVE YOU TOO!” A glow surrounded him and Duo blinked, “Huh? What?”
“Guess he’s over it…” Ruby sighed, then noticed the same glow was around Heero and Relena. She let him go and turned to see Wufei successfully separate Jewel and Trowa. Foxy let Relena go and went to help Wufei drag the other two out of the water.
Relena stared at the sky above her. In the background she could hear a scuffle and it sounded like Trowa was yelling something about Wufei being cruel and was Jewel sobbing something about a true love? She shook her head and winced, she was slightly bruised over (courtesy of Foxy) and… She raised a hand to her neck. Relena paled and ran over to the water and stared at her reflection. “I have a hickey…” She blinked, rubbed her eyes, and stared. “I don’t want to know… I really don’t…”
“I hear she doesn’t let him out of her sight.” One of Daniel’s crew spoke and he snarled. ‘She can’t always be with him… Even she needs sleep…’
“We’ll wait till she’s asleep, then kill him.” Daniel ordered them and the other two men nodded and left him. He looked outside, watching as the moon’s radiance filled the night. He smiled, “Long live the prince.” He smirked and laid a hand on his sword.
(TADA! thats it for part 6!!! likes??? maybe a little too sappy at times with D & Q, but oh well! And i just had to throw in the love spring... can u imagine Heero doped on on some love spell??!! That image was too hard to resist!
Heero: I will kill you...
Figgy: Aw! Come on! You can't seriously tell me you didn't enjoy that!?
Heero:....*silence*
Relena: HEERO YUY! ARE YOU SAYING YOU DIDN'T LIKE KISSING ME!?!?
Heero: *sweatdrop* i...uh...
Relena: ARGH! *stomps off*
Heero: great... *shoots Figgy glare of Death* this is all your fault... *aims gun at her* I will eliminate all annoying fanfic authors
Figgy: HEY! I RESENT THAT! I HAVE THE POWER! NOT YOU! *types something quickly and Heero stared down at himself in horror*
Heero: NO! I REFUSE TO BE THAT BRAIDED BAKA! *looks like Duo with spandex shorts on*
Figgy: *doesn't pay attention, too busy drooling* Duo and spandex shorts... I should've done this a LONG time ago...
Heero: *doesn't like the look in the crazy author's eyes* uh... hey Figgy... I'm sorry about earlier... I think I'll just be going..
Figgy: *purrs and grabs him by the braid* Sorry? It's in the past! AND YOU STAY!
Relena: Heero? Where are you? i've decided to forgive you...
Heero: *runs away from crazy author and hides behind Relena* HELP!
Relena: What are you doing Duo?
Heero: NOT DUO! HEERO! I'M HEERO! HELP!
Duo: *walks in, snacking on a bag of cheetos, stares at his double(Heero)* Whoa... COOL! More of me to go around!
Figgy: YEP! *grabs both and drags them away, kicking and yelling* MWUAHAHAHAHA!!!
Relena and Hilde: HEY!!!!! GIVE 'EM BACK!!!
Figgy: *pouts* no fair... *gives them back to their gfs* everybody's taken... except... * eyes light up on Trowa who pales and backs away* here Trowa, trowa!
Trowa: AHHHHHH!!!! *bolts*
Figgy: *stunned for a second* he actually said sumthing... oh well! TROWA! COME BACK HERE! I AM THE ALMIGHTY FANFIC AUTHOR! YOU MUST OBEY ME!
Trowa: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
